Hi Nick. I am registered blind and use screen reading software called Job Access with Speech (JAWS), which converts text into speech and braille enabling me to read my laptop’s screen. One of the problems with videos which play automatically is that the sound (assuming there is sound) interferes with my ability to hear what JAWS is voicing. On some sites there is no ability for JAWS (or other screen reader users) to turn off such videos, which makes the site difficult to use. Hey there, don’t worry about the subscriptions. If you don’t add an email sign-up form to your site, you won’t have any subscribers as this is not an automatic function of WordPress. You may also want to check that you have Users must be registered and logged in to comment disabled in the discussion settings so you site doesn’t store that information either.

Do you know where, within the Word Press Dashboard, I can turn “subscribing” off; if there is such an option? I’m in Settings-Discussion- and am not seeing anything. I’ve already turned-off “Comments” too, for now.
