We used to use a combo of ManageWP, Pingdom, and TrackSSL previously – which worked, but wasn’t ideal. We started using https://watchtowerhq.co during their beta. They have a lot more than just website monitoring, but they help us keep all of our client sites in one place. It’s been a great addition to our Ops team.

I also recommend to use https://uptime.onl for backend and frontend monitoring, https://bugsnag.com for bugs notifications from the apps, https://www.datadoghq.com for server monitoring.

I know its a bit of an old thread but https://elley.com does this for us. We started with a free plan and moved into a paid subscription after about 8 months.

We’ve been using Pingdom for about a year, and all our user find the User Interface confusing. Trying to navigate the site is a chore and the configuration is very confusing. It is due to this that we’re looking to switch to another service. We require 1 minute checks, so we’ll probably pay for the service. Thanks for the article, it will help narrow down our choices.

Great article and thank you for the tip. I’m surprised you didn’t add several of the other players in the market. We have a had great success with Uptime.com and Pingometer.com. Both of them are free and offer transaction monitoring, API monitoring, and SMS alerts for free accounts.

I’d recommend reviewing these and adding to your list.

I was using Monitor.us before but Uptimerobot is way better. Uptime Robot is extremely easy to use and available for free.

One option, not very well-known, is Cloudstats.

Good service, I’ve been using for about 4 months now – and it’s replaced my expensive Site24x7 bill.
