Cat sync requests[edit]

I should think more frequently of this excellent tool. -- User:Docu at 12:30, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done --Eusebius (talk) 12:50, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Does the category at commons need to exist?. If not do I need to create it afterwards or does it do that directly? -- User:Docu at 12:15, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think the categories need to exist already. Furthermore, I don't think these requests are a great idea, because of the many subcategories each of one contains. I'm not sure the bot will not overcategorize (don't remember exactly whether I have coded something for that). I'm afraid this is one of the cases where the bot shouldn't be run. --Eusebius (talk) 12:23, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If it will only do articles, I don't think it will get us many matches. The subcategories of these should get you more. If you want, I can check each edit afterwards to make sure it didn't overcategorize. -- User:Docu at 13:02, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK... Can you please create the remaining categories beforehand? --Eusebius (talk) 13:17, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I did the ones for existing countries. I'm a bit hesitant to create categories that could remain empty for former countries/sub-national entities. -- User:Docu at 13:33, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll pass them to the bot, we'll see. --Eusebius (talk) 13:36, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. It found a few good ones. I removed the other ones. -- User:Docu at 14:13, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

<unindent>That work well. Seems to be about the right level of category. It categorized a dab page too. Shall we try the following? There is no direct equivalent in en.wp. -- User:Docu at 16:25, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please synchronize Category:People by alphabet with en:Category:Living people.

Done

Sure. --Eusebius (talk) 16:48, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please synchronize Category:People by name with en:Category:Living people.

Would you re-do this one? Maybe it yields something. Currently there are 43,002 subcategories in the Commons category. (Now that you are CU, may still ask you to do syncs? Congrats BTW) -- User:Docu at 14:43, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done Apparently CU is not that much work! --Eusebius (talk) 14:48, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Seems to work. Another day, could we re-do the death year ones? I will probably have to check them against the previous run to make sure we didn't re-add the same category. As I'm not sure if I can get this done today, maybe next week.
BTW, can we try the below. I will create any red categories that would get entries. -- User:Docu at 17:48, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure anything is done when the cat doesn't exist? I think it just skips. --Eusebius (talk) 21:58, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

With the ships, I think it did. -- User:Docu at 22:09, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to be re-doing the first one it already it. Can you stop it? -- User:Docu at 23:43, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid I have seen your message too late. Could you give me an example of problematic edit? --Eusebius (talk) 06:41, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
23:39 on Category:Cher and the following ones. -- User:Docu at 06:57, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Already Category:Bibio is one it did before. I created Category:Bhumibol Adulyadej during the first run. -- User:Docu at 07:02, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok I see what you mean. The bot got stuck at some point (some character encoding issue) and had to re-do some of them. Sory about that. Please keep watching the edits, because there seem to be quite a number of potential errors... --Eusebius (talk) 07:07, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Be assured, I'm watching it. BTW EuseBotHelper already removed that line on 22:52. -- User:Docu at 07:14, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Navy cats[edit]

For a change, a few Navy categories ;)

I'd be glad if you would add them. -- User:Docu at 06:27, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Please have a look at the bot's action and ping me in case of problem, I'm a bit busy. --Eusebius (talk) 06:47, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, these are somewhat low risk though. BTW I found a problem at Category:Michael Mullen (category are added to redirects). -- User:Docu at 07:07, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's because cat redirects are not real redirects... Problem noted. I'll do something about it when I have some time (when???). --Eusebius (talk) 08:46, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

UK[edit]

Ships[edit]

Please synchronize Category:Four-masted ships with en:Category:Four-masted ships.
Please synchronize Category:Five-masted ships with en:Category:Five-masted ships.
Please synchronize Category:Six-masted ships with en:Category:Six-masted ships.
Please synchronize Category:Seven-masted ships with en:Category:Seven-masted ships.

Thanks. -- User:Docu at 04:54, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can't guarantee it will work. The pywikipedia guys have again commited a new version without performing non-regression tests... --Eusebius (talk) 06:53, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmed, it doesn't work. Consider the bot broken for now, I don't have time to solve the problem. --Eusebius (talk) 07:10, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for trying (and reminding me not to update). Will do it myself then. -- User:Docu at 07:16, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

People[edit]

Please synchronize Category:2010 deaths with en:Category:2010 deaths.
Please synchronize Category:2009 deaths with en:Category:2009 deaths.
Please synchronize Category:2008 deaths with en:Category:2008 deaths.
I will try to figure out who is also in Category:Living people afterwards. -- User:Docu at 04:45, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Bot still broken, commands will stay here for a while (I really don't have time to address the issue these days). --Eusebius (talk) 06:06, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, no problem. I don't think we did this sync recently, so a few weeks more wont matter. -- User:Docu at 06:12, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think I found a way to do them myself. -- User:Docu at 08:14, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
